A good example of this revisited idiom can be found in the Riccio (hedgehog) Table, thus named for its legs made from the metal rods used for reinforced concrete, which, seen together, recall the animal’s spines.
In the collaboration with designer Arturo Montanelli from the Ardea Design Studio , the engineered quartz used in the DNA Urbano (Urban DNA) collection became a true furnishing accessory, presented during the 2011 Salone del Mobile (Milan International Furniture Show).
The slab, which in this instance has the maximum size available, 300×140 cm, and the “Grain” finish , is part of the company’s Green approach.
In fact, DNA Urbano is a collection by Stone Italiana, which comprises the dust gathered during road sweeping operations. The recovered substances, appropriately converted, thus become new raw materials, providing energy savings, implementing virtuous recycling procedures and reducing costs of waste disposal.
The remaining proportion of DNA Urbano slabs is comprised of sand, quartz powder and polyester resin.
