Dubai Metro Union Station

Project

Quartz slabs for high footfall areas

Dubai Metro Union Station is one of the busiest stops, frequented by many commuters and tourists, located near large shopping centers and luxury hotels.

Strolling along the spacious corridors of this modern metropolitan railway station, opened in 2009, visitors can admire the quartz flooring by Stone Italiana, chosen for its combination of style and durability, ideal for high-footfall areas.

The patterns created on the slabs made using Stone Italiana’s engineered quartz technology express the warm colours of Dubai’s sand, and they were achieved by bespoke production techniques devised specially for the Union Station metro stop. This visual effect was attained by means of constant research on materials, colors, textures and granulometric composition, a corporate approach that expresses Stone Italiana’s dedication to experimentation, laying the foundations for the design of quartz flooring and wall-cladding ensuring high performance in many different situations of use.

The quartz flooring products were also specially inspected by Stone Italiana’s technical office, which numbered and pre-checked all the units and joints at the factory, mapping the quartz slabs that would later be assembled in Dubai with a bespoke installation process.

For this international project, Stone Italiana also liaised directly with the Dubai Road Transport Authority, which commissioned the supply of customized quartz slabs with a very high impact resistance and durability for areas with high footfall.

The range of Stone Italiana quartz products therefore also covers the needs of retail spaces and areas open to the public, making it possible to install durable, versatile flooring products.

These slabs, made to enhance and exceed the performance of natural stone, are now chosen all over the world as a result of their excellent physical and mechanical properties, in addition to their distinctive appearance that reflects constant research into colors and granulometric composition.
