In 2016, Lorenzo Palmeri, one of the most eclectic designers on the Italian scene, worked with Stone Italiana to create “Dune”, an experimental project in the “Micro 3d” series.
The Italian designer embellished and modeled the surface of a slab in Stonit quartz (with Grain surface finish) featuring three-dimensional textures evoking the slow, gentle movement of desert dunes, in their constant transformation.
The effect is remarkable. The marvels of nature strike the observer’s gaze in a very surprising way. The natural appearance thus created varies constantly according to the viewpoint and the direction of the light striking it.
The designs in the “Micro 3d” series were created for quartz panels, both in wall-mounted installations and floors. Their subtle three-dimensionality gives the user a very comfortable sensorial experience .
“Dune” represents an important landmark in Palmeri’s work on the multiple volumetric potential of quartz slabs. His intention entailed the application of a design approach combining the elegance and technical properties of materials by Stone Italian with the brilliance and creativity of Italian design, along with the beauty of nature.
