For the Ex Unione Militare project – in what was previously the Unione Militare building with a floor area of almost 6,000 square meters over five floors, at the heart of Rome’s shopping district, archistar Massimiliano Fuksas chose the quality offered by Stone Italiana.
The internationally renowned architect in fact commissioned Stone Italiana’s design studio with the production of the flooring for a project which, right after the opening, was described as “the most beautiful Benetton megastore in the world”.
The result is an original, tailor-made, one-off product: 225 individual slabs were hand made, subdividing the colors for each molding operation, reaching a total of 2,500 square meters of covered area.
A prestigious project, implemented using production techniques unique in their field. The colored circles that hallmark the floor, relieving the grid-like pattern of the white base, are in fact not inlaid into the flooring units, but are made by layering techniques during the production process, while the slabs are still soft.
This represents a notable effort in the quest for perfection, so that the project’s status as a veritable work of art is determined by the care dedicated to the details.
