Renovating a period property in the picturesque Berkshire countryside while retaining all its charm: to meet the needs of the owners who wanted a functional open-plan space, the interior design studio Elementi Cucina looked to Italian designer furnishings in minimalist style, basing the kitchen and living area around a large central island.
For all the worktops except the island, they chose Stone Italiana: slabs of engineered quartz in the shade GOLDEN were echoed in the sink (installed by Classic Marble Ltd), creating material continuity between worktop, dining table and sink, for an elegant contemporary style.
The warm veining of GOLDEN gives the surfaces an exquisite appearance and lends glamour to the extraordinary technical properties of the material. All Stone Italiana quartz surfaces can withstand shocks and scratches and are resistant to stains and the proliferation of bacteria (they meet international standards for reliability and food safety and are certified NSF/ANSI std. 51 National Sanitation Foundation – Food Equipment Materials for food zones and splash zones).
The distinguishing factor in the Tudor Barn project is its ability to combine classic and contemporary, performance and esthetics.. “The choice of a kitchen with simple lines and no handles allowed us to eliminate competition between old and new”, explains Adelise Morgan-Scully, senior designer at Elementi Cucina.
The dialectic between the dark shades of the furniture and the GOLDEN quartz tops by Stone Italiana goes perfectly with the beautiful ceiling beams, but also the backsplash in antique mirror glass, the patinated bronze tap and the luxurious bench seating and stools upholstered in printed velvet on a peacock blue base.
