Union Station in Dubai is one of the busiest subway stations, frequented by commuters and tourists alike, and is located near large shopping malls and luxury hotels. Walking through the spacious corridors of this modern subway station, which opened in 2009, visitors can admire the Stone Italiana flooring, chosen for its combination of style and durability in high-traffic areas. The designs on the slabs—crafted using reconstituted quartz technology and custom-made for Union Station—draw inspiration from the visual appeal of Dubai’s warm, sandy hues. This aesthetic effect is the result of ongoing research into materials and experimentation with colors, textures, and grain sizes—a corporate philosophy that reflects Stone Italiana’s commitment to innovation and lays the foundation for a design solution for quartz flooring and wall coverings capable of performing effectively in a wide range of applications. For this international project, Stone Italiana also worked directly with the Dubai Road Transport Authority, which commissioned the design of custom quartz slabs that are extremely impact-resistant and durable for high-traffic areas. Stone Italiana’s quartz offerings thus also meet the typical needs of public and commercial spaces, enabling the installation of durable and versatile flooring. Made from slabs designed to improve upon and surpass the performance of natural stone, they are now chosen worldwide for their excellent physical and mechanical properties, as well as for their distinctive aesthetic appeal, the result of continuous experimentation with colors and textures.
